Unicorn Hair Custom

Here is a custom I did for myself.  This doll had a bad haircut.  I rerooted her with a variegated yarn from the dollar store.

I put the head on a MTM body, her other body was very stiff.  I tried to keep the earrings, but they were so gunked with glue on the inside of her head I had to cut them out.  This yarn isn't as soft as some of the other stuff I get from Michael's, but I still like it.

My First (and only so far) Paid Doll Cleaning

I was asked a few weeks ago to clean a few dolls for a lady, who was planning to sell them on eBay.
She had three dolls to clean.  I originally asked for $50 to clean all three of them and fix the hair.  She asked what she could get done for $20.

I caved, and accepted the $20.  I just couldn't leave them all dirty like that.

The befores:

The afters:

Ballerina Barbie could have used some extra TLC on her frizzy hair, but I wasn't prepared to do that for $20.

What do you think?

I think they turned out great.  The seller was pleased as well.  I asked her to leave me feedback on my FB page...she never did.

A Recent Kijiji Haul

I bought this lot, early this week, off a lady who posted on Kijiji.

I originally was just going to buy the vintage Barbie clothing, for $20 CAD.  She then offered the whole lot of it to me for $40 CAD.  The price sticker on the Kelly play set is $45 alone.  I think I got a good deal.

I wasn't going to keep the City Shine Barbies, but when I saw the one with the Steffi face mold, I fell in love with her, and I'm going to keep her.  The other one I'm going to sell.

I've been struggling lately with clutter, and am really trying to weed out the dolls I don't totally love.
It's definitely a struggle, but I'm slowly establishing a pile of dolls I need to purge.

Would anyone be interested in seeing what I'm going to purge?  I could offer them up here, if so.

Getting back into it

I've take some time away from the blog as I was trying out some new things, and life just got in the way.

I've decided I missed it and am going to start posting again.

I've still been thrifting, and found some amazing things!  I've also been dabbling more in to customizing my dollies, rerooting and such.

Now I'm going to catch up on my reading list.

Ponies and Keypers

In the same haul I found the She-ra figures, I also found some G1 MLPs and a couple Keypers. 25 cents each!

They were pretty grimy and needed some hair TLC, and spent the afternoon giving them each a spa day.

Will post updates when the hair dries!

OMG you Guuuuys!! She-Ra!

I was out thrifting today, and found a little plastic bag with some figures in it, for $1.50 (and was 50% off that!!).  I knew right away what they were and tossed the bag in my basket.

I had She-Ra as a child, also Catra and her horse, and Frosta.  Sadly, all that remains to this day is the horse, Storm.

So I was really excited to find these.  Even if they are missing accessories.  I was about to Google the characters and dolls (since there are two different She-Ras), but then remembered there is a whole section about She-Ra in my Mattel fashion dolls guide!!

First up is She-Ra:

Then Angella:

Then Glimmer:

Her curly hair is in pretty amazing shape

Storm, from my own shelf:

I believe it's actually called "Silver Storm"based on the accessories, missing the bridle piece
Here are the two She-Ras.  The one on the right has more articulation of the head, and both arms move simultaneously.  I figured out she is "Starburst She-Ra".

The odd duck out was this doll with green hair:

She does not have any markings on her for year or company, or even country.  Her hair is an amazing color of green, the photos do not do it justice.  Sadly, she's had a bad hack job haircut, and one of her eyes is smudged.  Her elastic hips are also very loose.

Anyone recognize her??  Please let me know if you do!!

Here is the reference book I used:
